Not every cedar nut oil is healing: truth or myth?

Not every cedar nut oil is healing: truth or myth?

With the growing popularity of healthy living, cedar nut oil has become a sought-after product. As a consequence, there have been many offers on the market. However, the usefulness of the purchased oil directly depends on the goals of the manufacturer. It is his motivation that affects all stages of production and, consequently, the quality of the final product. If the manufacturer's only goal is to make a profit, the real healing effect of cedar nut oil will not be achieved.

Not all cedar nut oils are equally beneficial. To get a truly healing cedar nut oil, it is important to consider key aspects: it is important that the cedar cones are harvested after naturally ripening and falling from the tree, and the cedar nut oil itself is obtained by cold-pressing. This method better preserves all the beneficial properties of the pine nut

Harvesting cedar nuts

Cedar nut oil is made from the cedar nuts found in the cedar cones. However, not all cones are equally beneficial. Many producers are looking to maximize production and begin harvesting cedar cones from immature cedar trees. This affects the properties of cedar nut oil: cones harvested before full maturity do not contain all the necessary nutrients. This means that consumers will receive a product that does not have the expected healing properties[1].

For our cedar nut oil, only cones that have already fallen off the tree in environmentally friendly locations are harvested. This is the most obvious sign that the cone has reached maturity and the seeds inside it have fully developed. Exceptionally mature cones contain all the vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that make cedar nut oil so valuable.

Cold-pressed cedar nut oil: benefits

Depending on the technology used to produce the cedar nut oil, its properties can vary. Especially noteworthy is the difference between cold and hot pressing.

Hot-pressing involves heating the cedar nuts to facilitate the cedar nut oil extraction process. This increases the overall volume of the product, but also leads to a loss of beneficial properties and even the formation of harmful compounds, as a result of chemical changes in the product due to the heating.

Cold pressing, on the other hand, is a process where nuts are crushed without the use of high temperatures[2]. Our company uses this method because it allows us to preserve all the beneficial properties of cedar nut oil without heating and oxidation. During cold pressing there is no destruction of thermolabile components. The use of cold pressing ensures that the consumer will receive a product of the highest quality, which is able to have a positive effect on the body!
