The kin’s settlement “Zhivoy Dom” has turned 12. It is a community of like-minded people united by the philosophy of V. Megre’s book series “The Ringing Cedars of Russia”. Here, each plot is an area of at least one hectare, where people learn to be the creators of their own living environment.

The kin’s settlement “Zhivoy Dom” has no “management company” in the conventional sense. All decisions are made exclusively by unanimous consent. This is a complex but effective approach: residents do not vote by majority, suppressing the minority, but rather seek wording that resonates with everyone’s heart.
Basic principles of life:
Environmental sustainability: Everyone develops their own hectare according to their own design, but with one mandatory condition—no harm to nature.
Ethical treatment of animals: If residents keep pets, it is solely out of love and care. The settlement does not practice animal husbandry for the sake of food.
Self-organization: Roads, shared creative spaces, and infrastructure are the result of joint community workdays and the personal contributions of every resident.
One of the kin’s settlement’s main strengths is the creative collective “Living Fairy Tale.” It grew out of a local initiative to hold folk and Kologod festivals (spring, summer, fall, winter) and, over the course of eight years, has evolved into a full-fledged cultural phenomenon.

The troupe consists of more than 30 people. Most of the actors are children who are growing up within this creative environment. Each production involves in-depth work on the script, using fairy-tale characters to explore important life themes, values, and meanings.

In the kin’s settlement “Zhivoy Dom,” environmental responsibility is part of everyday life. Every hectare is developed with the site’s natural features in mind: native trees are preserved, as are the apple orchards that predate the founding of the kin’s settlement; medicinal herbs and flower gardens are planted; and biodiversity is maintained. Residents actively apply the principles of permaculture and organic farming, which not only minimizes harm to the environment but also creates fertile soil for future generations.
Over the past 12 years, the “Zhivoy Dom” settlement has evolved beyond being merely a collection of plots. An environment has taken shape here where children grow up in an atmosphere of creativity, and adults realize their dream of living on their own land without losing touch with society and culture.

The “Zhivoy dom” settlement is an example of how a shared dream, supported by daily labor and a mindful approach to every action, transforms an ordinary field into a thriving space where people want to live, create, and raise children.
