Staroselie is the first kin’s settlement created according to the books of V. Megre in 2000, as well as the first international kin’s settlement. It is located in the Ugransky district of the Smolensk region, on the banks of the large, pristine Ugra River. Surrounded by centuries-old forests, these places have carefully preserved the charm of the pristine purity of Central Russian nature and silent evidence of their ancient history.

More than half of the families living in the kin’s settlement are from different European countries. The main group is from Germany, and they are usually Russians who have lived abroad for about twenty years and found their homeland in the Staroselie settlement. The first characteristic of people living far from their future kin’s domains was that, not having the opportunity to visit the kin’s domain, they quickly decided to move there. As it happened, the first permanent residents were people who came from Germany.

But despite all the difficulties, they quickly got on their feet and set up a farm. For example, the Molzam family produces dairy products, milk, goat's milk, cow's milk, sour cream, cottage cheese, butter, cheese, honey, and eggs of good German quality. Interestingly, the products are sold not only within the kin’s settlement, but are also eagerly purchased by restaurants in nearby towns. The kin’s settlement also produces furniture, professionally breeds dogs and horses, and develops permaculture.

What is Izluchina?
Originally, izluchina means a sharp bend in a river. The kin’s settlement Izluchina-Staroselie was given this double name for a reason. The fact is that the kin’s settlement is actively developing the Izluchina program, which involves the creation of satellite kin’s settlements in the most beautiful places of the great bend of the Ugra River, near the first kin’s settlement Staroselie, and subsequently, the creation of an entire district of settlements consisting of kin’s settlements in this beautiful and ecologically clean place.

This form of kin’s settlement association has a common economy and infrastructure. The principles of interaction between kin’s domains have common cultural foundations and traditions. Various difficulties related to external and internal factors are resolved with the participation of all representatives of the association, if the specific situation requires it.

The creation of such an association provides significantly greater opportunities for communication among like-minded people, including young people, which is important. It also allows for the creation of a larger number of closely located kin’s domains that are more sparsely populated, which will have a positive impact on natural resources.
