The Ushivtsev family: the story of moving to the kin's domain

The story of Volodya and Katya Ushivtsev began about 12 years ago, when they lived in a very ordinary city. Everything was fine: a stable job, a decent salary, and hobbies that also brought income. Volodya is a musician, Katya is a yoga instructor and geography tutor. But at some point there was a feeling that life in the city no longer suited them. “You know you can live more fully and openly, but you are stuck in the old way. We have the greatest and most valuable tool – choice, but many have forgotten about it,” Volodya says about his feelings.

The Ushivtsevs became interested in the idea of eco-villages and found information about kin’s domains on the Internet. The family considered various settlements, and eventually settled on «Radosvet». At first they liked the location of the settlement, and when Volodya and Katya came to «Radosvet» for an excursion, they liked the people who lived there. The decision was taken...

The family bought the plot almost immediately upon returning from «Radosvet», but it took more than a year to prepare for the move. First of all, financial issues had to be resolved. The Ushivtsevs sold two cars and invested part of the money. They also sold a lot of unwanted items. And still, the amount for the move was small, so it was important to decide how to earn money after the move. Volodya agreed to work remotely, and Katya found clients for group yoga classes in advance and subsequently opened her studio in the locality closest to «Radosvet».

And finally they moved! Volodya and Katya did not immediately build a big house, but bought a ready-made small mobile house. The family immediately began improving their plot, planting a fruit garden and a vegetable garden.

“The first winter on the domain was one of the most difficult in my life, but at the same time it was a time of growth and development! – Volodya recalls. “There is an activation of your hidden talents, your resources.” The most important thing you understand on your own Land is responsibility. In the city it is very easy to get away from responsibility: there is a stable job, there is a TV and the Internet at home, shops are 5 steps away. But on the domain there is an understanding that you need to act actively, right now. And such challenges give inspiration for new achievements! For example, Volodya and his friends from «Radosvet» founded a small solar energy business. Initially, they built solar stations for neighbors; about 90% of the stations in «Radosvet» were built by their team. Now they are already working in other cities and regions.

“Now, having gone through many trials, I have grown many times as a person and as a man. And I can already say for sure that we made the right choice,” says Vladimir.

Katya completely agrees with her husband: “When I lived in the city, I did not feel freedom. It was all within a framework beyond which there was no escape. When we decided to buy the plot, I felt freedom. And indeed, having moved, I’m doing what I love, I don’t get tired of it and I live in pleasure!”
