"People who call themselves spiritual leaders, who talk of God and teach children in the schools today, should recognise as a God-pleasing deed the co-creaton of a Space of Love in the personal domain of every family dwelling on the Earth. Not only to recognise this but to create designs as well for future projects together with their parishioners. To endeavour, along with the people, to bring back the knowledge of pristine origins. To dream and discuss such a theme, and then to bring the design to perfection in all its detail. The process of creating the dream will take many years. Then, when all this comes to prevail upon the Earth, people will live in harmony, in a real, Divine Space of Love."

They were unanimous about this, the participants in the "Ecology and the Revival of Spirituality" conference, which took place in the hall of the Lyalya-Tyulpan Mosque complex on the initiative of the Sozidanie [Creation] group and the Association of Ecologists of the RB. The goal of the conference was to combine the efforts of representatives of traditional religious faiths, social associations, and state and local authorities to resolve problems involving the environment, health improvement, and the improvement of the ecological situation in the Republic.
Appearing at the conference were Sheikh-ul-Islam Supreme Mufti Talgat Tadzhuddin; Dan Krichevskiy, the Chief Rabbi of Bashkortostan and Ufa; and Father Roman, a priest of the Russian Orthodox Church. An overflowing conference hall listened to them with rapt attention and interest. Speaking about their vision of the problem of preserving the environment were the famous writer V. Megre; Kh. Gumerov, the Deputy Head of the Main Administration of Natural Resources and Protection of the Environment of the RB; I. Maksyutov, the Bashkir Interregional Environmental Protection Prosecutor; A. The result of the conference was the drawing up of directives for joint work to protect the environment and equip the city with services and utilities, and, in particular, to resolve the matter of creating a Park of Peace and Harmony of Religions and Nationalities in Ufa. A proposal was made to create a Social Ecological Council affiliated with the head of the city administration to consider the matter of the cooperation of the public housing and wooded park services with the citizens' local authorities for the purposes of cleaning the city and equipping it with services and utilities.

They publish almanacs that tell stories about the history of ecovillages, they print useful advice about fitting out the land, as well as poetry.

Megre's Confession
The author of the series of bestsellers about Anastasia, the reclusive woman from the taiga, was interviewed by a correspondent from Vecherki.
No, he's not a writer, nor a publicist, nor a journalist. His language has been called "old-fashioned." Vladimir Megre puts out his books gradually, avoiding publishers. They sell out quickly. The books are read throughout all of Russia, and in many Western countries as well. The author's ideas about people returning to their roots, about building their own "space of love" - a kin's domain on an area of one hectare of land - have struck such a cord in people's souls that they have begun to unite in an ecological movement. In Ufa alone about 300 persons have come together around the "Ringing Cedars of Russia" series of books.
* * * * *
"I have never been in your city before, but I heard that the residents of Ufa are actively involved in the construction of kin's estates," Vladimir Nikolaevich began the conversation. "The people made a great impression on me. It made me sincerely happy when, at the conference, quite a young man came to the podium and firmly stated: ‘I will have my own house, my domain, and I will have many children.' People dream, they make plans, and this should work out. I am grateful to the Supreme Mufti Talgat Tad-zhunni for the invitation to the conference. I was able to meet face to face with politicians and leaders of religious faiths. And it was the first time I communicated with a spiritual leader of such a high rank as the Supreme Mufti in public, openly, in the presence of others. The Mufti has done a great thing, he has been able to unite people of various faiths at a conference devoted to ecology and spirituality. And this happened somehow naturally and seemingly imperceptibly."
A question, which, I am sure, you are asked at each meeting: does Anastasia really exist, or is she only an artistic image that you use when attempting to bring the kernels of your ideas to your readers?
The image exists, the real woman exists as well. The question involves something else: to what extent does this image correspond to the prototype. It goes without saying that the real Anastasia is better, more interesting than the one in the book. And in general I think that it is time to end the discussions on this topic, whether she exists or not. I have already published seven books. In a year I receive (by mail alone) approximately 15 thousand letters. Take a look at the Anastasia.ru site: hundreds of people dedicate poems and songs to my heroine - a separate collection could be published now. Can you recall any individual or image that over a short period of time elicited such a powerful poetic commotion? And do you know what the poems are about? About faith, about love for Russia.
Do you think that I myself wrote Anastasia's inspired mysterious monologues, which have now been taken up seriously by scholars? Can I stop writing about Anastasia? I don't know.... This would mean stopping speaking about the problems surrounding a healthy way of life. The modern way of life, not only in Russia, by the way, is a dead-end. Anastasia offers us a way out of this impasse. How can I not write?
The "Ringing Cedars of Russia" movement and the people creating ecovillages are developing independently of you, even though Megre is in demand as never before. People dream of meeting him, speaking with him, getting his advice. Are you not burdened by the onus of responsibility for all that is going on?
I attempt to look at everything from the outside and understand it. I realize that I bear a certain share of responsibility. Sometimes it seems that I don't deserve any of this.
I think that the wave of popularity of your books has washed up a spume of false Anastasias onto the shore.
They appear from time to time. It Altai, a woman wrote a book entitled I Am Anastasia. Another imposter came to one of the conferences - in appearance she really did resemble the portrait of Anastasia that decorates the book cover. By the way, you should notice that my books are protected by a special mark: the cover bears the stamped gold foil logo of the "Ringing Cedars of Russia" series.
I have heard that expeditions have time and again equipped themselves for the Siberian taiga - are they trying to find Anastasia?
And the intentions of these people are not always good. Anastasia teaches us how to cure ourselves with plants, and the pharmaceutical companies, for example, do not like this. And one good farmer from Germany succeeded in finding her. Unfortunately, there were attempts to kidnap her, photograph her. I always appeal to my readers and ask them not to touch her, not to disturb her.
In the distant Siberian taiga, this reclusive woman is raising your son. Today the boy is eight years old. Is a "happy ending" possible in this fairy tale?
Every person should have his or her space of love. Many people are surprised at the peace and harmony in which Anastasia coexists with wild animals. But what is so strange about that? She has domesticated them, as one domesticates cats, dogs, horses. They live on the same territory, Anastasia is an integral part of nature. I am often asked, "Would Anastasia and her son ever want to move to Megre's kin's estate?" I have most like not yet found a place where I could invite her.... Obviously, a man must do something for a woman that would make her want to go to him herself.

Supreme Mufti of Russia Talgat Safa Tad-zhuddin for Studio "Co-Creation"
|
Vladimir Nikolaevich Megre
and Supreme Mufti Talgat Tad-zhuddin |
Our correspondent of the Studio "Co-Creation" conducted an interview with Supreme Mufti of Russia Talgat Safa Tad-zhuddin.
Question:
- What is your attitude towards kin's estates?
Answer:
- Here we have now returned to our kin's estate - Bulgary. For us, this is a kin's estate for modern Tartars, Bashkirs. We were simply called Tartars, but we are really Bulgars. The first people who warred with the Mongol Tartars were our ancestors. As early as 1223 this was Subaday-Khan, and he was defeated in the Zhivevsky Mountains. It was this love for a kin's estate, for the Fatherland, for our paternal home that led us here, and you have seen hundreds of thousands of people, from all corners of Russia, from Astrakhan, Yekaterinburg, from Penza Oblast, Ulyanovsk Oblast, Orenburg Oblast, from Bashkortostan, Tatarstan, from all part of our Fatherland, even from the Baltic States, from Belarus, from Moldova, Muslims honouring the homeland of their ancestors, the call of their ancestors, the call of their blood. But this was set down by God - such love and warm feeling for one's parents, and through them, for the land. Because when a person is born in this world, he or she lives a natural life - eats, drinks, but where does it come from? From the very land on which he or she was born. He or she grows grain on this land, drinks water from its springs, and for that reason it draws the entire soul, the entire body, for us, Muslims, there is even an obligatory ritual - the Hajj - it must be performed once in our lifetime, and we perform it by going to Mecca. There is a mountain there, Arafat, where Adam and Eve first met on earth, created the first family of people on earth, who then lived in the valleys of the Tigris and Euphrates, where human civilization began. This holy ritual is the Hajj, that is, the visit to the paternal home, the home of our forbearers Adam and Eve. This means that our longing for the parental home is love for the mother and father, all humanity is founded on this, all human life. And to bring this all into order, the Almighty gave us religion and belief in God. God forbid that we should lose it. Each nation has its little Homeland. And now we have an enormous country - all Russia - and beyond the Urals somewhere live at the most 30million Russians. If each takes a hectare, starts a family, and relying only on God begins to plant and plow, care for it, love it, and this land is our mother, and naturally, he will find responding feelings of love from the land, and the land, from God. And for that reason we only welcome the creation of kin's domains. And already now in Bashkortostan more than 300 families have begun to create kin's domains. And this movement is spreading more and more. But this only works for the benefit of strengthening our country Russia, strengthening the established order, even when one looks with the eyes of a materialist - here is property, he has something, so he will not be a rolling stone, will not be a homeless person, he will have something to care for, will bring children into the world, not only little dogs on a balcony to take out for a walk.
Question:
- Will land be allocated on the territory of Bulgariya?
Answer:
- You asked this just a little too late, the Head just left. I would also like to start one here. Definitely. Precisely on this land. The Head of the Administration here is a fine person, I don't think he will be against it. Even if he is against it, he will be won over, he is a very good man. And now here, if you look, in 1989 we held the thousandth anniversary of the adoption of Islam here, people came from 28 countries, and the village was completely run-down, as well as the city, and now gradually, gradually it is becoming beautiful, and the people are gradually coming back, even from Central Asia, the Caucasus, they are returning, acquiring lots, building houses, you can see it plainly with your own eyes.

"Harmony with nature" cures stress
The popularity of V. Megre's books is related to the attractiveness of the artistic image of Anastasia, who possesses amazing spiritual endowments, the ability to live in harmony with nature, and who, through her example, summons other people to do the same. It is not by chance that an entire social movement has arisen around these books. Some elements may seem debatable, but the main thing that can be gleaned from Megre's books is a positive spiritual and emotional fund that undoubtedly assists in restoring the spiritual health of people.
This is also a popularization of harmonious relations between people, which is so lacking in our harsh "market" times - especially human mutual assistance, mutual acceptance, and tolerance (including not only tolerance within the family, but also social and religious tolerance, etc.). I think that the importance of the humanization of human relations is obvious and indisputable.
This is also a popularization of such a positive life goal as the return of people to their natural roots, to the land, through the creation of "kin's estates," united in ecovillages. And here, in spite of the multitude of legal and economic issues that arise in this regard, in spite of the fact that the starry-eyed dreams of some enthusiasts can crumble as soon as they collide with the burdens of real life, the psychotherapeutic significance of a similar life choice must be emphasized.
The last 15 years have brought a fundamental breakdown of the life-style and the related wave - literally an epidemic - of so-called social stress disorders. Social stresses lead to the disruption of the psychological accommodation of many people to life. Vital reference points are lost, and sometimes people simply have no answer to the question: "How should I live?"
In the search for eternal values people are turning to a recipe that has been tested through the ages: return to nature, live "off the land," operate a natural farm and household, supplying oneself with the fruits of one's own labour. This is happening not only in our country. In the developed countries of the West, the "permaculture" social movement is also spreading, a movement that unites people who have grown tired of the stresses of urban life and who advance a natural, harmonious way of life.
In the conditions of Russian reality, this approach to the organization of one's own life has a clear psychotherapeutic importance for people. In the first place, this gives them a clear vital reference point, the ability to realize their destiny, their place in the world. In the second place, this is also a call to active work, to the directing of psychological energy to the realization of concrete and positive life goals. From a scientific point of view, this is nothing less than a way to cure the neurotic problems of our time, a way described even by Sigmund Freud, the founder of psychoanalysis, as sublimation.

Nikolay Denin has suggested to Dmitriy Medvedev that officers be allotted one hectare of land each
Nikolay Denin, the Governor of Bryansk Oblast, took part in the conference on the resolution of the social problems of servicemen, a conference that was chaired by First Deputy Prime Minister Dmitriy Medvedev in Voronezh on Thursday, January 24. Among other things, at the conference Nikolay Denin supported the proposal of Evgeniy Savchenko, his colleague from Belgorod, to offer to officers, shortly before their retirement, land allotments of up to one hectare for individual construction. Dmitriy Medvedev noted that "this is an interesting idea, it has long-standing historical roots," and "in order for the servicemen to serve, as they say, loyally and well, this idea can be studied." In this case, he emphasized that "a great deal depends here on the position of the regions themselves," since the land in question is attached to specific regions of Russia. As a whole, they promised to resolve the housing problem of servicemen by2012. |

Appeal to A. N. Tkachev, Governor of Krasnodar Krai:
Dear Governor Tkachev:
In spite of numerous appeals from representatives of the public, there is no end to the continuing destruction of Mount Neksis - a unique natural site in Krasnodar Krai, marked on maps of tourist routes as a landmark. It is startling, but it is a fact: before the eyes of tourists from various countries this site is being turned into...crushed stone, because of the quarry located alongside.
We, the undersigned, propose that the work in the quarry at Mount Neksis be halted, and the mount's barbarous destruction be stopped for the following reasons:
-
Each year Mount Neksis is the destination of thousands of tourists from many countries because of the historical and archeological monuments located on it: the Great and Small Aderbievka Dolmens, which are protected by the State;
-
Many types of vegetation covering the mount are on the endangered list and are protected by the State;
-
The blasting work in this district is causing anxiety and material loss to the residents of Svetlyy Villlage, and is also causing ecological damage to the district.
In our view it is necessary to close the quarry at Mount Neksis and restore the natural landscape that has been disturbed by the economic activity of people. If you make the appropriate decisions and display the will to implement them, you will preserve a site of large-scale tourism for the district and monuments of human culture for your descendents.
With respect and hope, residents and guests of the resort city of Gelendzhik.

RODIMUSHKA VILLAGE OF KIN'S ESTATES WILL EXIST!

The general plan for Rodimushka Village was finally approved at the beginning of this week.
We congratulate everyone on this joyful and happy occasion and hope that the Kin's Estates in the Smolevichi area will grow and become strong, and the songs of joy and children's voices will not fall silent here. And let Love illuminate and inspire your thoughts, actions, and creative work!!!

Rain Water Pond in the Forest
|
Rodimushka Village will be located on five adjacent clearings, which occupy approximately 170 ha. The area itself is located at a distance of 45 km from the city of Minsk, not far from the villages of Shabuni and Pekalin. The low-lying clearings are surrounded on all sides by a picturesque forest with a rich diversity of species, a part of the forest is a game reserve. At a distance of 1.5 km from the first clearing flows the small, but very pretty Usha River. There is a small pond on the clearings themselves.
In our village, on our kin's estates, we are planning to use the maximum amount of ecological technologies - building houses from natural materials (straw blocks, adobe, wood), environmentally friendly farming using the methods of Fukuoki and Kudyumov, and applying the principles of permaculture. An alternative to municipal water-supply and sewer systems will be the use of composting toilets and heating water using stoves.
There are plans to build a store, first-aid station, guest house, and school on the space allotted to the community centre of the village. There is also a desire to build a hall for a local theatre and creative workshops.
We now have approximately fifty like-minded families and future villagers who are striving toward harmonious relations with nature. Among them are people of various ages and professions. The development of the village is at the stage of elaborating the topography and general plan. The charter of our ecovillage is under consideration.
If you wish to join us, you can come to the meeting of the members of the Sotvorenie Association, which takes place every Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at 8 Makaenka Street, in the assembly hall.
We invite everyone who has read V. Megre's books to participate in the construction of our Rodimushka.

Pervoistoki Organization
Hello to one and all!
We, the Pervoistoki organization from Kirghizia, wish to express to you our joy, gratitude, and support. We are attentively following how the Ringing Cedars of Russia popular movement is growing and spreading across the entire world, and we are experiencing great joy from that. We warmly support all the wonderful initiatives and are prepared to take whatever part in them we can, because the mighty movement in Russia and other countries is enormous support for us and a stimulus to go forward. In spite of the fact that in our Republic it will probably be more complicated to create an ecovillage, we are making every effort to ensure that flourishing kin's estates will appear in Kirghizia and that hope for a better future will blossom in our people.
With respect and love, all members of the Pervoistoki organization.

Schastlivoe Settlement of Kin's Domains
Beyond the beautiful hills,
Beyond the picturesque meadows,
Among the magical Kodr woods,
There is the happy world of People-Gods.
There, among the mighty oaks and lime-trees,
Among the grasses, flowers, and thorny bushes
Is the spirit of love and magic,
A dream here springs to life in an instant!
There, love is cherished by families,
And the ideas of their ancestors is honoured!
They live together with nature in peace
And plant saplings in love!!!
There, brooks ring like little bells,
A song is heard from morning to night,
There, braids curl down to the ground,
Garlands are plaited from flowers,
There, a design is sewn by the hand of a skilled seamstress
On white clothing and sheets.
In this clothing the folk dancers are dressed!
When the dawn touches the earth,
There are jokes, songs, ringing laughter,
The sunshine pours down everywhere!
There everyone loves and is loved!
And even if someone is alone,
He will be able to meet love there,
If he manages to discern it
Among happy eyes and smiles,
Among rosy cheeks and pretty faces!
And there is a feast of fine food,
Of apples, pears, quince, and grapes,
Of beets, radishes, and carrots -
Everything prepared with love!
And after drinking tea of fragrant grasses,
Try the meads, sweet and clear,
And if you brought a basket of presents -
Know, you will be simply wonderful!!!
There you will rest in heart and soul,
And see the world as it was in your childhood!
And there the falcon, spreading its wings,
Will see how a fairy tale has become true!!!
Come to visit this good story,
Bring joy with you.
If a good story has come to your heart,
That means friendship has begun!!!
Schastlivoe Ecovillage in Moldova
Biznes Elita [Business elite] Newspaper
Today few people would be surprised that an ecovillage is being created somewhere. Hundreds of ecovillages in various stages of development exist in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, and other countries of the CIS. In Western and Eastern Europe, India, Israel, the USA, and other countries of the world, the movement to create ecovillages has existed since the sixties of the previous century. Today almost everyone is talking about ecology, about an ecological way of life, and some people are even acting in that direction, constructing their lives in nature, creating ecovillages, as an alternative to the city and the traditional village. Just what an ecovillage is, and what the people who create them are striving for is discussed in an interview with Aleksey Kirshchin, one of the members of an ecovillage that is being created here in Moldova.
Aleksey, what goals have you set for yourself in creating the ecovillage?
We are looking for an alternative to today's way of life. Today's society has run into serious problems, above all of an ecological nature, which are mentioned by many politicians and social activists, but we are seeking a solution to them in an experimental way. Modern civilization has achieved unprecedented heights in the development of technologies, but has simultaneously run up against unprecedented problems. I am speaking of both air and water pollution, the quality of our food, the constant stresses experienced by modern man, noise, hustle and bustle, diseases, and much, much more, as the costs of the benefits of the modern life-support system. I would like to mention immediately that we do not presume to criticize today's style of life, moreover we consider it to be a completely natural, but not an ultimate course of development of humanity. So, to answer your question, I can say one thing: we intend to unite the best achievements of scientific and technological questing with the beauty and power of primordial nature.
Do you intend to isolate yourselves from the rest of the world and live only in the village?
No, we have no intention of escaping from the rest of the world. Many of us work in the city, run our own businesses, some of us are involved in the arts, sing, give concerts, produce discs of their own songs, some are involved in journalism, I, for example, do accounting work, and there are people who keep a huge apiary and live off that.
In the future we are planning only to develop our participation in the social order, but in no way to leave it. True, it's worth mentioning that today we fully depend on the city: we earn money there, it is there we acquire most of our food, clothing, gas, etc., but in the future we plan not to depend in this regard on the city, moreover we shall supply the city with ecologically pure foodstuffs: vegetables, fruits, honey, grains, folk articles, and much, much more. Thus, we are planning to achieve our energy independence from the system, we are planning to imitate the experience of our friends from other ecovillages of the world and use alternative, ecologically pure sources of energy, such as electrical wind generators, solar batteries, set up energy efficient houses, etc.
Who developed this idea, who developed the concept of your village?
We developed the concept of our village by ourselves. When we organized an ecological club in 2001, we met twice a week for several years and discussed the prospects of developing ecovillages in Moldova and ourselves within them. We made plans, drew outlines, organized expeditions to search for suitable places and much more. As the basis we took the idea of the Kin's Estates described in the Ringing Cedars of Russia series of books, in general, that was what united us, inspired us, it was the kernel and the essence of the concept of our village. In addition we intensively study the experience of permacultures, the experience of innovative Japanese agronomists and other practitioners of this trend. We actively study and put into practice new systems of education, medicine, etc., etc.
Tell me, what are you presently involved in, and what stage of development are you at in the village?
It's spring, and therefore basically we are planting trees, shrubs, laying out vegetable gardens, and, well, generally keeping busy around the house. We plant various types of trees, both fruit trees and wild coniferous and deciduous types, and the same with the shrubs. The thing is that some plants give fruit, others provide protection from the cold, heat, wind, attract birds, which in their own turn eat insects, which in large numbers may be a danger to the fruit trees and shrubs. And all this together is very beautiful, cheerful, and nice! In general, everything in nature is interconnected, and we study this interconnection and draw, so to speak, a living picture of life.
But we are in the earliest stage of our development, although we have already erected several small houses and are looking after approximately 30 ha of land.
Who manages all this?
All this is managed by the village council, which meets every week, and more often if necessary. Everyone who is part of this project may participate, and all decisions are adopted with complete unanimity. I realize that this sounds fairly strange in our greedy world, but we are all friends and all interested in each other's success, so it works for us!
Good, but this project requires funds and not insignificant ones, where do you get them?
We are all sufficiently successful people, or at least are becoming successful and, in addition, we are in no hurry.
Do you not feel that in your aspirations and world-outlook you strongly differ from the majority of contemporary people?
